BPLF POLICY ON PRIVACY OF DONOR RECORDS

General Information

Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) and Brooklyn Public Library Foundation (BPLF) respect your privacy. We recognize that visitors to the BPLF pages on the BPL website may be concerned about the information they provide to us and how we treat that information. Although no transmission on the Internet is 100% secure, BPL/BPLF exercises care in providing secure transmission of your information from your PC to our servers.

Sharing the Information

BPL/BPLF never sells personal information about you. However, BPLF sometimes exchanges lists with other cultural organizations. Please let us know when you make your donation if you do not wish to have us share your name and address and we will gladly honor your request.

Secure Transactions

BPL/BPLF takes seriously the protection of sensitive information collected through online donations. BPL/BPLF select transaction vendors who agree to comply with industry standards and generally agree upon methods of encryption and encoding. Multiple "firewalls" are used to protect this personal information.

BPL/BPLF uses a technology called Secure Socket Layer (SSL) to encrypt any credit card information that you send us. Once such information is transmitted to our site, it is stored on our servers and then conveyed to a third-party financial institution that receives your credit card number and other personal identifying information in order to verify and process a transaction.

BPL's Privacy Policy

BPL's Privacy Policy provides information on the kinds of patron information collected to serve you as an individual, and the "generic" information that we collect to improve our website and electronic communications. For more information, please visit http://www.brooklynpubliclibrary.org/legal/privacy.jsp.
