Living Today for a Better Tomorrow: Older Americans Month may 2009

May is Older Americans Month

May is a very busy month. Spring is finally here and people are out and about. In spite of the recent economic ups and downs, we continue the tradition of celebration. For most of us May means celebrating Mother’s Day. For other’s, Memorial Day comes to mind. May is also known as "Older American's Month".

Whether we celebrate Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, or Older American’s Month, one thing will always remain in our hearts and mind. The ones we so loving honor this month are the ones that have made a selfless contribution either directly or in directly in our lives. They will never be forgotten!

In 2004, President Bush stated,

Older Americans help others to understand the past, and they teach timeless lessons of courage, endurance and love. Through their legacy of patriotism, service and responsibility, American seniors also unite families and communities and serve as a royal model for younger Americans.

By practicing a healthy lifestyle we can keep the "Older American’s Month" legacy alive. Many ongoing health related problems can improve by even the least amount of physical activity.

With time passing by us at the speed of light we all must keep in mind that today’s young adults are rapidly becoming tomorrow’s "Older Americans"!!!
