A Healthy Heart is a Happy Heart
- Ways to keep a happy heart:
- Don't Smoke - The prime ingredients in cigarettes such as tar, carbon monoxide and nicotine are the most common causes of cardiovascular diseases and lung ailments.
- Diet - Eat a heart-healthy diet with reduced amounts of saturated fat and cholesterol. Reducing the amount of salt intake in your diet will also help.
- Exercise - Moderate exercise is one of the best things you can do to keep your heart and the rest of your body healthy. Exercise helps reduce stress and prevent obesity which in turn is associated with the development of heart disease, diabetes etc.
- Drinking - Alchohol, when taken in small amounts, relaxes the mind and reduces anxiety. More and more studies have shown that alchohol increases your levels of HDL cholesterol (Good Cholesterol). It also dilates blood vessels and keeps blood from clotting. Please keep in mind that you should not have more than two drinks per day. More than that could be detrimental for your health. So drink slow!!!!!
