- This is a great place to visit on a rainy, particularly in the summer when it is not very crowded.
- Strollers are welcome at the museum, but there is no elevator and there are a couple of flights of stairs.
- There is no food at the museum so you may want to bring food with you or eat nearby.

- In the morning before you leave home, tell your child about the trip to the Transit Museum. Tell her about the subway cars and buses you will be seeing.
- Take the bus or subway to get your child excited about the museum!
- Attend one of the museum's story programs.
- Spend about an hour exploring the museum. Stay longer if your child is interested.
- Have a snack or lunch in a nearby restaurant or park.
- Stop by the Brooklyn Heights branch and check out some books about subways and buses.
- Take the bus back home just and talk about what you saw that day at the museum.
- Don't forget to sing "The Wheels on the Bus" at least once before naptime or bedtime.
