Suggestions for your adventure

What to Eat
  1. The Museum Café
  2. If you want to eat your own food, head over to Mount Prospect Park (turn right as you leave the museum).

  1. Before you visit, tell your child that you are going to the museum. Talk about what you may see there.
  2. When you arrive at the museum, pick up a Family Guide available at the Independence Community Foundation Visitor Center, the Learning Center, and in the galleries. By using the guides you can explore various of themes of interest to children, such as animals and masks.
  3. Choose one of the guides to help you explore. Let your child set the pace. To help your child focus, try playing a game in a quiet gallery such as "I Spy." Your child can look for animals, colors, or shapes in the art as you play.
  4. Don't forget to grab a snack or eat a nice lunch at the Museum Café. If you want to eat your own food, turn left as you leave the museum and head over to Mount Prospect Park for a picnic.
