PAPER ANIMALS by Kevin Waldron

to
Central Library, Youth Wing

At the library, I found a beautiful oversized book with paintings by botanical illustrators and natural history artists like Sydney Parkinson and John James Audubon, and was inspired by their compositions. In this exhibition, I showcase a bold new display of wild animals in their natural habitats created with a collage of colored paper torn by hand, and soft pastels for landscape backgrounds.

Kevin Waldron was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland and studied at the Dublin Institute of Technology, and at Kingston University in London. Since then, Kevin has been illustrating children’s books, including Harold’s Hungry Eyes, Tiny Little Fly (winner of the Bull-Bransom Award in 2011), Mr. Peek and the Misunderstanding at the Zoo (which won the Bologna Ragazzi Opera Prima Award in 2009), and Chocolate Cake, among others.
