Stop the Bleed workshop
Stop the Bleed is a program which empowers everyday citizens by teaching them how to use life-saving measures when first responders may be delayed. This Stop the Bleed workshop is offered by the staff of the the Pediatric Emergency Department at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. The medical team will provide an interactive training session on how to identify life-threatening bleeding. The one-hour session also includes a hands-on demonstration on how to use tourniquets and apply sterile gauze for the most severe cases. The goal is to provide attendees with potentially life-saving information and the peace of mind that you have taken preventative steps in case you facility should ever need to address an emergency situation of this nature.
Stop the Bleed is an initiative of the American College of Surgeons and the Department of Homeland Security in response to senseless acts of violence. The Stop the Bleed training involves teaching the public how to identify and control life-threatening bleeding, using their hands, dressings and tourniquets when necessary. By slowing and/or stopping this potentially life-threatening bleeding, they are giving victims a better chance of survival until first responders arrive.
