Brooklyn Connections is our FREE Research Project program for 7th and 8th grade classes in Brooklyn. Students learn about local history and develop skills while exploring the original resources held in the Brooklyn Collection. The program is now in its third year and has a successful track record of meeting teacher expectations and increasing student interest in Social Studies.
We cater the program to help you achieve your Research Project or Exit Project goals. Our resources can be applied to almost any aspect of the middle school Social Studies curriculum. Previous Connections projects have covered the World Wars, Slavery, Immigration, Coney Island, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Civil Rights Movement, and more. Outstanding student work is displayed in an exhibit at Central Library each year, and we encourage teachers to consider NYC History Day involvement.
